Sophie Turton, Digital Marketing Manager at Bozboz shares their top five reasons not to miss out on the Brighton Summit.
Dare to dream bigger, explore a desire, hold a tarantula – all of this, while developing your business.
Now in its fourth year, Brighton Summit is a business event like no other. A day where Brighton’s brightest can take part in a variety of workshops, learn from keynote speakers and participate in a networking frenzy – and the content certainly provides fodder for conversation.
The next summit, which will take place on Friday 14th October, focuses on your desires, dreams and real business, taking you from inception through to your visions of the future, and how you can make those dreams a reality.
Bozboz are seasoned Brighton Summiters and every year we take away something valuable that we can apply to the way we do business. We’ve put our heads together to come up with our top five reasons not to miss out on the Brighton Summit 2016.
1. Be inspired
Last year we were encouraged by Nikki Gatenby to “have a vision that inspires action”, get out of our comfort zones and do something we love. The year before, keynote speaker, Rob Forkan told the story of Gandys Flip Flops, which he and his brother created in the aftermath of losing their parents in the Sri Lankan tsunami. The company raises money for the Orphans for Orphans foundation and gives 10% of all proceeds to helping children who also lost their parents to the tsunami.
This year, Camilla Stephens and Mark Campbell of Higgidy Pies will take on us on their culinary journey from pie making in Camilla’s kitchen to employing 250 people at their factory in Shoreham.
2. Learn from the best of Brighton’s businesses
From Brighton Gin and hiSbe, to Brandwatch and Propellernet, Brighton Summit offers workshops and keynote sessions with some of the most successful businesses in the area.
Unlike many business conferences, the Summit prides itself of its unique approach. In its first year, workshops were broken up by a ‘dare hour’, challenging participants to conquer their fears by offering the chance to sing, hold a snake, or paint a nude.
This year, ‘desire hour’ invites you to experience the power of dance, take a virtual trip through time or experience a West End workshop.
3. Build valuable connections
The Brighton Summit welcomes businesses of all sizes and there will be many opportunities to meet the faces behind some of the city’s most influential organisations. As well as regular breaks and networking slots throughout the day, the ‘desire hour’ sessions actively encourage participants to engage with each other, helping you build connections that last through experiences unlike any other.
4. Enjoy great food
You won’t go hungry. As well as a delicious spread for lunch, the Chamber have arranged a variety of nourishing snacks to keep your energy high and mind engaged.
5. Do what’s important to you. Do what you love.
Anything goes at the Brighton Summit and you will be encouraged to explore your dreams and desires on all levels. The sessions are structured to provide value, while challenging you to push the boundaries on a personal, as well as professional level.
